Tottenham are considering the possibility of swooping in for Chelsea target Xavi Simons after transfer talks stalled on his move to Stamford Bridge.

It is looking sealed that Eberechi Eze will be in Arsenal colours as Spurs fans have been left fuming by the lethargic transfer policy of their club.

The summer has been full of disappointments with the Crystal Palace talisman sitting at the top of the pile alongside Morgan Gibbs-White staying at Nottingham Forest after Angelos Marinakis stepped in to stop the transfer.

According to a report by The Independent (21 August), the “possibility” of Spurs moving for Dutch midfielder Simons has been “discussed”.

This comes after the 22-year-old’s prospective move to the Blues from RB Leipzig has stuttered, opening up the door for Spurs to swoop in and make an approach for the number 10.

However, The Independent did highlight how the Lilywhites have “lost their leverage” on signing any alternatives due to every team knowing they are desperate for an attacking-midfielder.

As a matter of fact, the Eze news should definitely intrigue the Dutchman who could thrive from a change of trajectory to north instead of west London.

Given the size of the Chelsea squad and with Cole Palmer to contend with in the number 10 role, there are no guarantees Simon even starts week-in-week-out.

A move to Spurs would see him breeze into the starting XI, considering the current lack of attacking-midfielders at the club.

In a World Cup defining season, the decision to turn down a chance to play at Stamford Bridge could actually benefit the RB Leipzig creator by securing more minutes at White Hart Lane.

Ronald Koeman will be watching closely to see which Dutch players are in contention for his squad and there are no guarantees the 22-year-old simply walks in, every player has to earn their spot.

Levy and the Tottenham board should strongly consider making a move for the former PSG academy graduate to bolster their creativity in the middle of the park.
