Tottenham are bracing for more pain and backlash from fans as they try to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa after missing out on Eberechi Eze.
It has been a week from hell for Spurs fans as what was looking like promising foundation at White Hart Lane has gone flat after missing out on Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.
The Lilywhites seemingly had the deal in the bag before north London rivals Arsenal swooped in for Eze after Tottenham “over-negotiated” an agreement for Eze.
Daniel Levy and the board now scramble to find a replacement for the Eagles talisman with Football Insider recommending Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez as a hidden gem option for Tottenham.
Fortunately, fans were happier with their side’s performance against Man City in a 2-0 win courtesy of a resolute display at the Etihad.
However, this will do little to reprieve the angry Spurs faithful as it appears the white half of North London is eyeing up Aston Villa’s Rogers, despite a transfer seeming completely ludicrous.

According to a report by The Independent (21 August), Spurs have now made England international Rogers their “priority target”.

A figure of “£80million” or more has been tied to the former Middlesborough attacker, costing the chasing club more than it would’ve been for Palace’s main maestro.
Quite frankly, making a move for the number 27 makes zero sense given his price tag when the Lilywhites could have bought Eze for cheaper.
This only adds to the discontent amongst Tottenham fans who will be ruing how they missed out on Selhurst Park’s finest.
Claiming that they’ll now chase the 23-year-old in a deal that is practically impossible to do is ridiculous given the Villains will definitely not let him go after a tricky summer.

The defining difference between both Arsenal and Spurs is how they reacted to injuries to key attacking players.
James Maddison got injured back at the start of August with the chairman taking weeks to get anyway in finding a replacement for Thomas Frank.
For the Gunners, Kai Havertz picked up a knock and was absent from an open training session on Wednesday (20 August), prodding Mikel Arteta to demand an instant replacement as they clawed Eze out of the hands of their arch-nemesis.
This shows two clubs who are so far apart in terms of negotiation tactics and efficiency, which has rightly frustrated Spurs fans.

The claims of making moves for Rogers who is completely out-of-reach will only lead to more criticism and outrage from the Lilywhites faithful who are quite simply fed up with how their club has been in the transfer market in recent years.
By always losing out on marquee signings or opting for a plan B option, there is a negative presence surrounding White Hart Lane which definitely puts players off joining.
Tottenham fans wallow in disappointment and anger, but this proposed interest in the PFA Young Player of the Year 2024-25 could be the tipping point in a deterioration in fan-ownership relations to a point of possible no return.
