Daniel Levy appears to be doing all he can to bolster his chances of selling Tottenham in the near future.

That is the view of football finance expert Dan Plumley, who told Football Insider exclusively that new signings and Champions League football would appeal to potential new owners.

Levy has been Spurs’ chairman for 24 years, making him the longest-serving owner in the Premier League.

However, it has been one of the league’s worst-kept secrets that the British businessman is willing to entertain offers for his side.

No bids have been forthcoming so far, although there has been significant interest from Qatari investors in Tottenham.

But with Champions League football, a new manager, and a new CEO, Levy may be gearing up to sell the club he has owned for nearly a quarter of a century.

Speaking to Football Insider previously, Plumley explained that the World Cup and Champions League could both bolster Tottenham’s value.

And with a sale in mind, the finance expert believes that the decision to spend significant funds on former West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus, and ex-Bayern Munich man Mathys Tel has been made to provide an appealing squad for a potential investor.

Plumley said: “I think the Champions League is a huge factor in that, in the sense of where they were last season, and obviously getting into that competition.

I think there’s a little subtext there.

“It’s tough with ownership, because there is also a way you can look at that where if you are looking to sell, you need to give the club the best possible chance to be able to be sold.

“For a buyer to come in and pick up something that you can run with, then what you want is a decent squad for a new owner to inherit.”

With the desire to further invest in the squad from Levy, Tottenham are now considering a move for Xavi Simons, Mick Brown told Football Insider exclusively.

The Dutch attacking midfielder has been a target of Chelsea’s for much of the summer, but there have been no new developments in his move to Stamford Bridge of late.

Simons would help fill the void left by Son Heung-min’s departure and James Maddison’s ACL injury, as the ex-PSG man is capable of playing on the left or behind a striker.

However, Spurs will have to move quickly as several of Europe’s biggest clubs are keeping tabs on the 22-year-old.
