Tottenham allowed Heung-Min Son to make his final exit decision and did not stand in his way.
On 2 August, Son announced that he was leaving Spurs after ten years at the club, and played his final game for the North London side the next day against Newcastle.
The South Korea international scored 173 goals in total, as well as leading Tottenham to their first major trophy since 2008 back in May, as they beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final.
Los Angeles FC are expected to announce the signing of the 33-year-old in the coming days, for a fee of around £20million.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Spurs allowed Son to choose LAFC over more lucrative offers.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness revealed that he had thought Son was set for a switch to the Saudi Pro League.
A number of Saudi clubs showed an interest in the Spurs captain, and he likely would’ve earned more money by moving to the Middle East.
Wyness added that Tottenham didn’t stand in Son’s way and allowed him to join LAFC as a parting gift, despite it being less financially beneficial for the club.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I was sure that Son was going to go to Saudi because, what Son does bring, apart from his own skills on the pitch, is a massive South Korean following.
“If it is purely his decision to go to LA, then obviously Spurs have decided that, look, he’s been a great servant, we’ll let him go.
We’re not going to stand in the way of him going, and we won’t demand a bigger fee.
“It may be that LA is where he thinks he can make some great deals for himself in terms of his quality and his ability, and the Korean market will be big in LA.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham will look to move Yves Bissouma on this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Bissouma fell behind Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Sarr in Spurs’ central midfield pecking order last term and is one of several expected to leave as part of Thomas Frank’s rebuild at Tottenham this summer.
Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Tottenham want to at least recoup the £25m they paid Brighton for Bissouma in 2022, and are planning to accept offers for the Malian.
Football Insider sources have now said that Bissouma is highly likely to leave the North London club.
