Tottenham have reportedly set their sights on signing Liverpool target Rodrygo as a replacement for the outgoing Son Heung-min.
The South Korean is set to depart Tottenham after ten years at the club, and Tottenham are already considering their options.
Son made an emotional farewell as he played what is expected to be the final game of his Tottenham career in front of his adoring home supporters in Seoul on Sunday.
The South Korea forward was embraced by his Spurs team-mates and the opposing Newcastle players, and they performed a guard of honour when he was substituted in the 65th minute.
Son was a huge player for Tottenham.
He scored 173 goals for the club —the fifth-highest for Spurs—and 101 assists in 454 games, with his 127 Premier League goals ranking as the joint 16th-highest in the competition’s history.
His exit leaves a huge hole in the Tottenham attack, and the club aims to fill it with the signing of Brazil international Rodrygo.
Liverpool have long been linked with a move for Rodrygo, who is touted as a replacement for Luis Diaz.
However, Tottenham also hold genuine interest in the Brazilian and are looking to accelerate their move.
However, according to the latest report from Spain, Spurs are waiting for Liverpool before making a move for Rodrygo.
“The departure of Heung-min Son (33), captain and a Tottenham institution, has created a gap on the left wing of the Spurs’ attack.
A position that Tottenham and their president, Daniel Levy, want for Rodrygo Goes,” an AS report said.
Adding, “In London, they are still reluctant to believe the deal will ultimately bear fruit, largely due to the long shadow of Liverpool.
The Reds shelved the ” Rodrygo deal ” after Alexander Isak’s transfer window?
A striker who meets all the requirements sought at Anfield, in short, what Darwin Núñez never managed to prove.”
