Leeds United are prepared to rival other Premier League clubs in the race to sign Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss this summer.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 21-year-old has emerged as a key target and an offer could be made soon.
After missing out on a deal to sign Igor Paixao, who instead opted to join Marseille, Daniel Farke is targeting a new creative spark to add to his front line.
Brown told Football Insider on 7 August that Farke plans to add to his Leeds squad and is targeting players with experience playing in the Premier League.

Despite their relegation last time out, the attacking midfielder impressed for Leicester and has attracted attention from a number of Premier League clubs.
Newcastle are also interested in El Khannouss, but Leeds feel they can convince him to make the move to Elland Road with the offer of first-team football.
Football Insider revealed in May that Leeds are prepared to back Farke with significant investment to strengthen his squad to compete in the Premier League.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted there are no plans to slow down in the closing stages of the window with more action likely.
“Leeds are still looking to strengthen their squad,” he told Football Insider.
“One things teams in Leeds’ position always have to look at, is the best players from the clubs who have been relegated the year before.
“If he’s proved he can do it in the Premier League, that will be of interest to Leeds.
“Now, they have to decide whether he is good enough to improve their squad.
“We’re talking about a side who have just come back up and they want to stay up, so it’s going to be a difficult season for them.

“They want players who are going to be that difference-maker to make it less difficult.
“I think El Khannouss could be that type of player, they’ve done their scouting and they know what he would bring to the team, so now they can make a move.
“The difference between Leeds and other interested clubs is that they will be in a position to offer him regular first-team football, which may be hard to come by elsewhere.”
Alongside their interest in El Khannouss, Leeds have also been linked with a move to sign Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas in the window’s closing stages.
Brown told Football Insider on 13 August that Liverpool plan to accept offers for Tsimikas as he has no place in Arne Slot’s plans for the coming season.

Slot made a clear statement about the left-back’s position in his team after he was left out of the squad during the Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider in May that Leeds are interested in signing Tsimikas and will rival Nottingham Forest for his signature.
