Wales captain Aaron Ramsey has agreed a deal to sign for Mexican side Pumas UNAM, the PA news agency understands.

The former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder would become the first high-profile British player to play in the Mexican league should the formalities of the move be completed.

Ramsey was appointed Cardiff interim manager for the final three games of the Sky Bet Championship season after the club sacked Omer Riza.

The 34-year-old was unable to prevent Cardiff from being relegated to the third tier, but reports had linked him to taking over the Bluebirds on a full-time basis this summer.

Ramsey has made it clear he wants to continue his playing career and lead Wales at the World Cup next summer.

Mauricio Pochettino says a return to Tottenham is "not realistic" amid talk of a move back to north London as the club seek a successor to Ange Postecoglou - who was sacked on Friday.

The 53-year-old said: “After I left in 2019, every time that I was free, and the place of the position of the manager or head coach in Tottenham Hotspur, my name is appearing on the list.

I wouldn’t want to hate Manchester United, because I love that club so much.

A Terriers statement revealed that Thomas had joined Stoke for a “significant undisclosed fee”.

Thomas spent last season on loan with Ligue 1 outfit Nantes and has played a key part for Wales since making his senior debut in 2021, including creating two goals in their 3-1 win over Kazakhstan in March.

Stoke sporting director Jon Walters told the club website: “Sorba is a player we have admired for some time and someone whose services are very much in demand, so we are delighted to welcome him as our first summer signing.

“He’s got a strong physical profile, works tirelessly out of possession and technically he brings real quality, especially with his delivery into the box, which is a standout part of his game.

“James Rowberry has worked with him closely in the Wales setup, so we know exactly what he’ll bring on and off the pitch.

“At 26, with Championship and international experience behind him, we believe there’s more to come with us at Stoke City.”
