Crystal Palace are prepared to block Marc Guehi’s move to Liverpool if Tottenham reach an agreement to sign Eberechi Eze in the coming days.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Oliver Glasner is extremely reluctant to lose both of his star players.
The Eagles had planned to lose at least one star this summer to raise funds for reinvestment, but are unlikely to sell both after the season has started.
Brown told Football Insider on 18 August that Tottenham are closing in on signing Eze after holding fresh talks with Palace to thrash out an agreement.
As a result, question marks have been raised about Liverpool’s pursuit of Guehi as they have so far been unable to match the South Londoners’ asking price.
Instead, Football Insider revealed on 17 August that Liverpool could wait 12 months to sign Guehi when he becomes available on a free transfer.

Football Insider revealed on 18 August that Crystal Palace plan to keep their best players, including the likes of Adam Wharton and Jean-Philippe Mateta alongside Guehi.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the England defender could now see out his contract at Selhurst Park rather than moving on.
“Crystal Palace don’t want to lose both Eze and Guehi,” he told Football Insider.
“Especially after the season has already started, losing two of their best and most important players would be a significant blow to the manager’s plans.
“If they lose players, of course they can replace them, but replacing both Eze and Guehi with such little time left in the window would be very difficult.
“I understand he’s in the last year of his contract, but Palace are very reluctant to lose him.

“From the outside looking in, I’d expect it would always have been either him or Eze to leave.
“So now that it looks like Eze could be joining Tottenham, I expect Palace will tell Liverpool that there’s no chance of Guehi going anywhere.
“Either that, or they’ll stick with this £40million+ price tag they’ve put on him and give Liverpool the ultimatum of pay up or shut up.
“If it’s going to happen, they need it to happen quickly so they can go and find replacements.
“It won’t be something they let go through on deadline day, that is for certain.”
Alongside speculation surrounding some of Palace’s best players in the transfer market, there are also growing fears about Glasner’s future at Selhurst Park.
Football Insider revealed on 17 August that Glasner is “frustrated” at Crystal Palace given the lack of activity in the transfer market since winning the FA Cup.

Glasner had been outspoken about his desire to bolster his squad early in the window, but just two players have arrived so far, leaving him short once again.
As a result, Brown told Football Insider on 13 August that Palace are at risk of losing Glasner alongside a number of key players next summer.
