anuary transfer window - LIVE!

The rumours continue to come thick and fast as we approach the latter stages of the window and clubs scramble to get business done in the Premier League and beyond.

Arsenal have signed Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan until the end of the season, while Standard Sport understands they are increasingly confident that Martin Odegaard will also join on loan from Real Madrid. Mikel Arteta is also looking for another left-back as cover for Kieran Tierney.

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Liverpool are both rumoured to be keen on signing highly-rated Bayern Munich teenager Jamal Musiala, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also has his eye on Palmeiras forward Gabriel Veron.

Leicester look to have been priced out of a swoop for former Tottenham star Christian Eriksen, with Chelsea targeting a move for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

Dele Alli is reportedly eager for Spurs not to block a reunion with Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain, West Ham are eyeing another bid for Bournemouth’s Josh King and Liverpool also have both Inter Milan’s Nicola Barella and Reading’s Michael Olise on their radar this month.

Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori also looks to have completed his loan move to AC Milan that includes the option for a permanent summer transfer.

1611339013Koulibaly wants Man United move

Kalidou Koulibaly is ready to leave Napoli and Manchester United is his preferred destination, reports Marca.

Manchester City and Liverpool are also long-time admirers for the centre-back, but it is their rival where 29-year-old wants to go next.

Koulibaly's current deal with Napoli runs until 2023.

1611330171Arsenal monitoring Bertrand

Standard Sport understands that Arsenal are considering a move for Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand as they look to provide competition for Kieran Tierney.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta revealed this week the club are in the market for a left-back to compete with Tierney after Sead Kolasinac was allowed to join Schalke on loan.

Bertrand is into the final six months of his contract with the Saints and has been in protracted talks over a new deal with the south coast club.

The former Chelsea full-back, who still lives near the Blues’ west London training ground and commutes to Southampton, was of interest to Leicester in the summer following the sale of Ben Chillwell and the Foxes have kept tabs on the situation since.

The 31-year-old is thought to be happy to stay at the club he joined in 2014 - but, should a new deal not be agreed, offers from the likes of Arsenal would be hard to turn down.

Southampton would not sanction a sale this month with Bertrand being their only senior left-back, while the player would be happy to wait until the end of the season to assess his options if the new contract is not signed.

Italian side Fiorentina are considering a loan move for Felipe Anderson this month, writes Jack Rosser.

The Brazilian playmaker has desperately struggled during his spell on loan at FC Porto across the first half of the season and West Ham would be interested in moving him once more in order to protect the value of a player they spent £35million on in 2018.

Anderson is understood to only want a move should everything fit and is wary of moving to a new club and having to settle all over again so quickly after moving to Portugal. Neither club nor player see much benefit in him returning to east London for the remainder of the season

1611318812Odegaard ‘not a close contact of Zidane’

There may have been a few Arsenal fans fearing the worst when the news broke an hour ago that Zinedine Zidane has tested positive for coronavirus.

However, The Athletic’s David Ornstein says Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard has not been deemed a close contact of the Frenchman, meaning his proposed move to Arsenal shouldn’t be affected.

1611316166Ryan ‘buzzing’ to join boyhood club Arsenal

Ryan is unsurprisingly delighted to have joined Arsenal - the club he supported as a youngster.

“Signing for the club you grew up supporting as a kid,” he wrote next to a big tick emoji on Twitter.

“Buzzing to be beginning this new chapter and will give everything I’ve got to contribute to the first club I ever loved.”

Mat Ryan will compete with the underwhelming Alex Runarsson to provide competition for first-choice Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno after Matt Macey left for Hibernian earlier this month.

“Mat is an experienced goalkeeper, a proven talent in the Premier League and has also played many internationals for Australia. Mat will further strengthen our squad with his experience and knowledge of playing at the highest level,” said Gunners technical director Edu.

"Following Matt Macey’s recent move to Hibernian, Mat will provide very good competition and positive support to all our goalkeepers and we are looking forward to him integrating quickly into the set-up here at Arsenal.”

Manager Mikel Arteta added: “We know Mat very well through his performances with Brighton in recent seasons and he brings additional quality to our squad.

"Mat has very good Premier League experience and has played over 100 times in the league, which is something that will benefit us greatly on and off the pitch. We welcome Mat to Arsenal and look forward to working with him this season.”
