Transfer twist: Sheringham gives Liverpool verdict on Alexander Isak

The Alexander Isak to Liverpool transfer saga has taken another turn, with former England striker Teddy Sheringham giving his thoughts on how the Newcastle United forward could transform the Reds’ season.

Liverpool have been linked with the Swedish star throughout the summer, but Newcastle have stood firm, insisting the striker is not for sale.

Still, with weeks left in the transfer window, speculation refuses to die down.

Reports suggest Liverpool have already seen one bid rejected, while Isak continues to train away from the main squad.

Sheringham believes the 25-year-old could be a game-changer for new boss Arne Slot, even going as far as to suggest Liverpool might hit the jackpot with him.

“Success for Isak is winning the treble for Liverpool, and I think he can do that,” Sheringham told Snabbare (quotes via Liverpool Echo).

The former Manchester United striker added that the forward might need to adapt slightly at Anfield:

“He might have to change his game slightly because people play differently at Newcastle than they do when they go to Liverpool.

He will have to play with his back to goal a little bit more rather than running in behind, but I think he can do everything as a player.”

“The chances will come.

He will have no problem fitting into the Liverpool system for me.”

Isak’s form last season was impressive, with only Mohamed Salah scoring more league goals for the Reds.

He also played a key role in Newcastle’s Champions League qualification and their first major trophy in 70 years.

For now, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe insists he wants Isak to stay, but in football, as fans know, the transfer window can turn faster than a counterattack at Anfield.
