Liverpool have teased the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold as the full-back recovers from a knee injury.

The England international has missed the last nine matches after suffering a recurrence of the problem that he suffered in the FA Cup win over Arsenal at the beginning of January.

Taking to X, a video was posted showing Alexander-Arnold stepping up his recovery on the bike before being put through his paces, testing the strength of his knee following the ligament injury.

There was a hint at further positivity when the video cut to him returning to the training pitch and kicking the ball again as he edges closer to returning to Jurgen Klopp's selection options.

The ECHO reported on Thursday that this Sunday's encounter against Roberto De Zerbi's side will come too soon for the full-back and Diogo Jota - who is also suffering from a knee injury.

Speaking on the eve of the international break, Klopp revealed that the 25-year-old could be in contention for Thursday's clash with relegation-threatened Sheffield United.

Alexander-Arnold's full-back partner Andy Robertson became the latest injury concern following his ankle problem on international duty with Scotland.
