Trent Alexander-Arnold has finally confirmed he'll be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
But in an emotional social media post, he explained that he wanted to keep things under wraps until Liverpool had clinched the Premier League title.
"I know many of you have wondered why or been frustrated that I haven't spoken about this yet," he wrote on X.

He further explained: "I felt personally the focus should always be on the pitch and when we're in a title race, when we're pushing for trophies, it's about making the right decision for the team, and trying not to distract the team and take away from what we're doing on the pitch.
After nine remarkable years at Anfield, Klopp revealed in January that he would step down at the end of the campaign.
While the early announcement gave Liverpool valuable time to find his successor, it may also have contributed to the team's eventual stumble in the title race - the emotional weight of the news possibly disrupting their momentum.

Evidently, Alexander-Arnold was eager to avoid the same fate.

"After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, now is the time for me to confirm that I will be leaving at the end of the season," he wrote.
