Trent Alexander-Arnold is formally set to become a Real Madrid player when he leaves Liverpool - and earlier than expected, too, as the Reds are ready to bank £10-million this June.
In turn, the 26-year-old has wasted no time at all in changing his allegiance from his boyhood club to his new one.
Liverpool stood to lose their vice-captain for free once his contract expired on June 30, but with the FIFA Club World Cup taking place next month and Real Madrid competing, there was the chance to agree a fee to expedite the process.
The clubs have now made such an agreement to come into effect on Sunday, June 1 - one that will allow the Reds to pocket a sizeable fee while subtracting one month's wages from their bill, equating to £10m in total.
During Sunday's Premier League title celebrations, and the trophy parade the day after, Alexander-Arnold was in tears over saying goodbye, but that's now behind him as he looks towards his fresh challenge.

In a matter of minutes after the deal was announced, to the public, the 26-year-old swapped out Liverpool's name from his Instagram bio for Real Madrid's.
That, as they say, is the brutal nature of the game.
Real Madrid's interest has hardly been a kept a secret throughout the recent 2024/2025 campaign with an attempt made in January to coax Liverpool into an early sale, which was rebuffed instantly.

In the final six months of his Reds deal, the player had been eligible to speak to Real Madrid - or other clubs - freely as they are bases overseas and here today comes an agreement born from such negotiations.
Acting as his agent during the process would have been his older brother, Tyler, who heads-up PLG Agency.
He has acknowledged the agreement, sharing Real Madrid's Instagram post to his own profile.

Sharing his delight for the transfer, as well, was Alexander-Arnold's other brother, Marcell, who re-posted the same Real Madrid tweet to his Instagram story - with three white circle emojis included.
