Alexander-Arnold spoke to Gary Neville in a recently-aired edition of The Overlap.

The former Manchester United player was full of praise for the Liverpool man, likening his vision and passing range to Kevin De Bruyne and David Beckham.

But it was a former teammate that Alexander-Arnold spoke about in similarly hushed tones.

At the time he was quite young and I was quite experienced, and I wasn't fazed by him at that time, because I played against him every day.

"The best players I've played against were in training.

Giggs, Ronaldo, Rooney, I was playing against them every day."

Alexander-Arnold chimed in: "I've always felt like that.

He had the jump, he could get up, he was fast, finishing probably wasn't the same but he could finish, both feet, just a threat at all times."
