Real Madrid completed the signing of England international Trent Alexander-Arnold on a six-year deal early this summer.

The right-back announced in May that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, and the Spanish club paid around £10million to terminate his contract early.

The agreement allowed the 26-year-old to join Real Madrid in time for the FIFA Club World Cup, which began in June.

Alexander-Arnold, a lifelong Liverpool fan, joined the club’s academy at the age of six.

He made his senior debut at 18 and went on to make over 300 appearances for the Reds.

During his time at Liverpool, the Englishman helped the club win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup, and the Carabao Cup.

Alexander-Arnold was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Andorra and Serbia.

The Real Madrid defender, who made his international debut in 2018, has earned 34 caps and scored four goals for the Three Lions.

Alexander-Arnold was included in Tuchel’s previous squad but has been omitted from this one.

Alexander-Arnold has brushed off early criticism since his move to Spain, insisting that leaving Liverpool was the right decision for his career.

“It was one of the hardest decisions of my life.

Liverpool is my home; it made me who I am.

But Madrid felt like the right step, at the right time,” he told an interview with GQ Spain.

“It was ambition and a personal desire for change.

To challenge myself in a new environment.

“Of course, Real Madrid’s legacy is undeniable?

Playing at the Bernabeu is sacred.

“You can feel the weight of the shirt, but that’s what drives you to give it your all.”
