Trent Alexander-Arnold has expressed his gratitude towards his brothers for their significant role in shaping his football career.

The 26-year-old has announced his intention to leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the season, with strong rumours linking him to a free transfer to Real Madrid.

In a post on X, Alexander-Arnold said: "After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, I can confirm that I will be leaving at the end of the season.

This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life."

Off the pitch, Alexander-Arnold has a supportive family that could move with him if he relocates to the Spanish capital.

His brother, Tyler, acts as his agent and serves as a director at the PLG football agency, which represents not only Alexander-Arnold but also Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson and former captain Jordan Henderson.

In an article for The Player's Tribune in August 2019, he shared how his family, particularly his brothers, drove their mother crazy with their passion for football.

He said: "My mum had this rule that we could play wherever we wanted, as long as she could still see us - literally, with her own eyes.

"The options were the front garden or the park across the way.

"But sometimes she'd lose sight of us because we’d be racing around the back of the house with a ball made out of tinfoil or rolled-up socks.

"We drove her mad.

You can picture it: she’s trying to make dinner, and then three boys in Liverpool kits come tearing around the corner, sliding into the kitchen for a 50-50."

Alexander-Arnold further praised his siblings for setting aside their own ambitions to support him in achieving his football dreams.

He said: "As I grew older and moved up through the Liverpool academy, Tyler and Marcel willingly sacrificed their own dreams for mine.

"We all realised at a young age that a professional football career was more attainable for me, and so did my parents.

"That’s a tough realisation for a young lad to grasp.

There were weekends when mum couldn't take my brothers to their matches because I had to be at the academy at a certain time; it was always them who made the sacrifices.

"To this day, I’m incredibly grateful to both of them."
