Arne Slot is poised to become Liverpool’s next manager following the agreement of a compensation deal with Feyenoord in the summer.
The 45-year-old is set to succeed Jurgen Klopp, who announced his departure from Anfield at the end of the 2023-24 season back in January.

According to The Athletic’s Adam Crafton, “Liverpool also poaching Sipke Hulshoff, an assistant coach at Feyenoord, as well as Ruben Peeters, their head of performance – both to join along with Arne Slot subject to necessary visas.”
Liverpool’s decision to appoint Slot is believed to be influenced by his attacking style of play, his leadership qualities, and his adeptness at player development.
Slot assumed the role of Feyenoord manager in 2021 and had previously expressed interest in managing in the Premier League when he was linked with Tottenham in 2023.
Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, who recently guided Bayer Leverkusen to their first Bundesliga title, was also linked with the Liverpool managerial position.
However, Alonso ended speculation in March by announcing his decision to remain with Leverkusen for the time being.
Ruben Amorim of Sporting Lisbon was another reported contender for Klopp’s successor, but the club ultimately opted for Slot to take over the reins.
Just before Feyenoord’s match against Go Ahead Eagles on Thursday night, Slot openly voiced his desire to join Liverpool.
He told ESPN: “I’d like to become the new Liverpool manager, my decision is clear, it’s no secret.
I am confident, waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement.”
Jurgen Klopp has offered his verdict on Arne Slot, with the current Reds boss praising the Dutchman’s achievements at Feyenoord.
“I’m not involved in the process, but I like a lot about it if he is the one and wants to take the job.
I like the way his team plays football,” Klopp said.
“All the things I hear about him as a guy – a good guy.
Some people I know, know him.
“I don’t know him, but some people who know him say he’s a good guy.
“I like that a lot.
Great job, great team, fantastic people.
“[Slot] ‘would’ [Klopp makes quote marks sign with his fingers] be taking a really interesting job.”
