Liverpool’s squad has regrouped following the international break, gearing up for their Premier League campaign’s resumption against Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp and his team have been diligently training at the AXA Training Centre in preparation for the challenges ahead.
Klopp is optimistic that Liverpool’s injury concerns will ease up as they enter the final stretch of the season, while simultaneously navigating their Europa League campaign.
However, there are notable absentees from the training session.
Curtis Jones, who has been sidelined since sustaining an ankle injury in February, was expected to return after the international break but was absent from training, according to Sky Sports.
Ibrahima Konate, who missed Liverpool’s previous three matches, also wasn’t spotted during the session captured by Sky cameras.
Despite making a return to action for France during the international break, it appears that Liverpool may be carefully managing Konate’s playing time to prevent further setbacks.
Furthermore, reports suggest that Andy Robertson is likely to miss the upcoming match against Brighton due to an ankle issue suffered during Scotland’s recent match against Northern Ireland.
However, the injury is not believed to be serious and could be available for Thursday night’s league clash against Sheffield United at home.
On a positive note, Darwin Nunez, who withdrew from Uruguay duty due to a tight hamstring following the FA Cup loss against Manchester United, has resumed training and appears to have overcome his injury concern.
Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, Alisson Becker, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, and Ben Doak are continuing their respective rehabilitation processes as they work towards full fitness.
For Matip, he returned to running on the grass which marks a remarkable milestone in his recovery journey, especially considering that he was not anticipated to play again this season following his ACL injury in December.
His progress is a testament to his dedication and the medical team’s efforts in facilitating his rehabilitation.
However, it’s a contrasting situation for Alcantara, who is facing the prospect of being sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury.
Despite having limited playing time this campaign, with his sole brief outing as a late substitute against Arsenal in February, Thiago’s injury setback further complicates his situation.
Notably, like Matip, Thiago is also out of contract in the summer, adding another layer of uncertainty regarding his future at the club..
