The prospect of Liverpool’s summer transfer business has got every supporter twitching with excitement.
Reds fans have become used to slightly low-key windows over recent times, having made just one new signing across each of the last three.
That all looks set to change in the summer of 2025, though, with Jeremie Frimpong having already become the first player added to the Liverpool squad.
Florian Wirtz is likely to follow, with the German standing by for a medical as Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen negotiate a fee.
But the Reds are highly unlikely to be finished there.
There had been a suggestion that Wirtz could be the new striker Liverpool have so badly needed.
Given that he tends to play as an orthodox attacking midfielder, there seemed to be more pressing concerns.
That Liverpool are willing to spend a club record fee to get him may have suggested to some that Wirtz will be deployed as the most advanced attacker, or even as a left winger, where Luis Diaz could leave.

However, according to journalist Christian Falk, Slot has promised Wirtz that he will play in his favoured attacking midfield position.
“The decisive factor in his decision was that Arne Slot offered him ownership of the number 10 role at Liverpool,” Falk writes in his Fact Files column.
The talks with the coaches were decisive.”

With Wirtz in the 10, Liverpool clearly still need a new striker.
And after a Friday update from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, they may also need to do the same at left wing.
According to Romano, Saudi side Al Nassr have made Diaz their top target ahead of their window opening.
“Al Nassr consider Luis Diaz as one of their main targets for the summer window to re-start with ambitious plan,” he says.
However, given Slot’s promise to the German, that now looks like it will not happen.
So, as well as going big on Wirtz and another striker, it looks entirely likely that Liverpool will need a third, blockbuster addition at left wing.
In our opinion, this could be where Liverpool’s interest in Anthony Gordon could become a topic again.
