Tyler Morton and his loan spell has come to an end following the weekend’s events.

The Liverpool midfielder played a big role in Hull City’s season, and up until the last day of the Championship this past weekend the Tigers were fighting for a promotion play-off spot.

However, Hull City were beaten by 1-0 by a Plymouth Argyle side  fighting for survival in the Championship.

That, coupled with West Brom’s 3-0 win over Preston North End, meant that that the Tigers finished 7th – agonizingly close to qualification for the Championship play-offs.

Dubbed an ‘outstanding player’ by Hull boss Liam Rosenior, Morton certainly earned lots of minutes under his stewardship.

He made 41 appearances under Rosenior this season, notching up 3 goals and 5 assists in that time.

It’s plenty of football and adds to the first team experience he earned while on loan at Blackburn Rovers in 2022/23 – managing to rack up 46 appearances that season.

Additionally, Tyler Morton also earned his first few England U21 caps while on loan at Hull – further showcasing the progress he’s managed to make this campaign.

Now returning to Liverpool, the 21-year-old will have names ahead of him in the pecking order.

Being a central midfielder, Morton will have to battle it out with a reinforced area of the Reds’ squad – with Endo likely being his main competition at the base of midfield.

With Jurgen Klopp bidding farewell to Anfield, perhaps the England U21 international will be able to impress Arne Slot (who is still yet to be officially announced).

What did Tyler Morton say about his Hull City spell

Taking to Instagram, the Liverpool academy graduate posted a heartfelt message to everyone connected with Hull City.

He spent a full season’s loan at the MKM Stadium and seemed to have forged a good bond with the City faithful.

“UP THE TIGERS.”

Fabio Carvalho will also return to the club after his loan spell at Hull City also comes to an end this season.

Many Liverpool fans are no doubt excited and curious to see what the former Fulham man can do under a new manager.
