Chelsea will sanction the departure of Tyrique George, with talks already underway over a sale, if one condition can be met.

George has not played a minute of Premier League action this season as the winger faces increased competition for places following Enzo Maresca’s summer spending spree.

Maresca has signed Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, with George expected to depart Chelsea due to the influx on new arrivals.

Chelsea have started with a draw against Crystal Palace and a 5-1 victory over West Ham to begin their season, but George does not look to be apart of Maresca’s plans.

The Times [29 August], report that Chelsea are in talks with Roma over a move for George.

George shares the same agent as Sancho, but talks are proving “difficult” with Roma debating whether to go ahead with a deal, whilst Chelsea want to include a “significant sell-on clause,” into the contract.

Football Insider Verdict

If George’s deal to Roma does not go through, the 19-year-old could soon face increased competition on the left flank from Alejandro Garnacho.

George therefore needs to leave Chelsea, permanently or on loan, to gain regular first team minutes this season or risk a campaign sat on the sidelines.

The winger has proved to be an upcoming talent at Chelsea, contributing largely in the Europa Conference League last season, but now the Blues are in the Champions League and Maresca will need to play his strongest side.

That further limits the chances George will get to shine in the first team, so a move away could be beneficial for his career.
