The incident happened during an explosive ending to the Champions League clash between the two sides at Anfield on Wednesday evening.
It was sparked by Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk scoring a dramatic injury-time goal to earn his team a 3-2 victory having seen a two-goal lead wiped out by the visitors with just nine minutes remaining.
Atletico Madrid boss Simeone was then involved in an altercation with a supporter in the Main Stand, reacting angrily to being subjected to a stream of abuse he later insisted had been constant throughout the game.
Simeone, who was subsequently sent off by referee Maurizio Mariani, was then held back by a number of stewards and members of his backroom staff.
And footage taken from a supporter in the lower Main Stand posted on social media has captured one Atletico staff member seemingly spitting towards a group of fans stationed nearest to the incident.

UEFA are now considering whether to investigate further, with their disciplinary board assessing reports from the game including those from the match delegate and referee before decided any potential next steps.
Speaking after the game about his reaction to abuse from one Liverpool supporter, Simeone said: "We are in a place where we don't have a right to reply or react, do we?
It's never very good when we react as managers, is it?

"We are the people on the stage out there and need to behave well.
But we can get angry and fight back as well, managers, from the place that we are to how we are getting insulted all of the game.
"When they scored the third goal, he turned around and insulted me, when I turned around, I am a person and I'm human.
