Liverpool players will have been watching on with a pang of jealousy and regret as they saw PSG win the Champions League on Saturday.
The Reds were beaten by PSG in the last-16 at Anfield in March, with penalties all that separated the two teams.
Although they were outplayed in victory in Paris, Liverpool were the better of the two teams at Anfield and would have deserved it had they gone through.
Instead, they exited at an unusually early stage, before watching PSG beat Aston Villa, Arsenal and then annihilate Inter Milan 5-0 in a hugely one-sided Champions League final.
After a treble-winning season, star man Ousmane Dembele has been tipped to win the Ballon d’Or, with PSG now the champions of Europe for the first time.
But despite their status as the kings of the continent, European footballing body UEFA have still ranked Liverpool ahead of the Parisians in their end of season club rankings.

Although they were ultimately beaten by PSG, it is clear that Liverpool gave the European champions their toughest test in this year’s knockout stages.
The Reds had Luis Enrique’s team on the ropes for much of the game at Anfield and came close to getting the decisive goal several times.

Despite their early exit in the Champions League, though, UEFA have still recognised that Liverpool have had an exceptional season themselves.
With the Reds finishing as Premier League winners, UEFA’s co-efficient rankings released on Sunday have Arne Slot’s side sitting in fourth place.

While they are English champions, Liverpool are not the highest rated Premier League club, with Manchester City ahead of them in second.
Real Madrid top the rankings despite going trophy-less in 2024/25, while Bayern Munich bridge the gap between City and Liverpool in third.
Having won the Champions League for the first time, PSG sit in fifth place, one below the Reds.
Rather than base these rankings off one season alone, UEFA prefer to score things on a total score taken over the past five seasons.
Points are handed out based on performance and then totted up over half-a-decade to give a final score.
Liverpool are currently sitting on 125.5 points having accumulated 29.5 during the 24/25 season.
That puts the Reds seven points clear of PSG, who managed 33.5 points in their treble-winning campaign under Enrique.
Chelsea are the third highest English side, sitting in seventh place, while Manchester United have fallen to 11th, with Arsenal in 12th.
