Liverpool’s search for defensive reinforcements has intensified following the departure of academy graduate Jarell Quansah.
While much of the transfer chatter remains focused on high-profile attacking targets such as Alexander Isak, there is growing concern among supporters about the club’s lack of urgency in addressing its centre-back needs.
Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi has been a primary target throughout the summer.
The Reds have also been linked with several younger defensive prospects, including Giovanni Leoni, Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez, and Wolfsburg’s Konstantinos Koulierakis.
Liverpool are expected to hold talks this week regarding Guehi, who is understood to favour a move to Anfield should he leave Selhurst Park.
Palace chairman Steve Parish has confirmed the club are open to selling their captain this summer to avoid losing him for free when his contract expires next year.
Arne Slot’s side have so far been reluctant to meet Palace’s £40million asking price.
“We’d have to do that, of course,” Parish said.
“For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it’s a problem for us unfortunately.
We’ll just have to see what happens.
“But, you know, it needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind.”
“As far as people being here or not being here, it depends,” added Parish.
“If it’s the right decision for the football club and for them, nobody can make anyone go, then there’ll be some changes.”
Udinese defender Matteo Palma is also attracting interest from Liverpool.
According to tuttomercatoweb, the Reds and Real Madrid have made enquiries, while Bayern Munich are reportedly preparing an offer.
Red Bull Salzburg and Wolfsburg have also monitored the player in recent weeks, but Udinese remain unwilling to sell him this summer.
The highly rated centre-back made 11 appearances across both the senior and youth sides last season, scoring once in all competitions.
