Liverpool fans have been raving online about Ryan Gravenberch’s incredible midfield display in the dramatic 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid.

When Liverpool bought Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich in 2023, very few people expected him to become one of the best midfielders in the world in the span of time he has.

Arne Slot was forced to use the Dutchman in the no.6 role after Martin Zubimendi rejected Liverpool but it has turned out to be the best rejection since Julian Brandt rejecting Jurgen Klopp led to the purchase of Mohamed Salah.

If anything, Gravenberch’s display against Atletico Madrid is an excellent indicator of how far the young midfielder has come since moving to England.

During Liverpool’s dramatic 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid, Gravenberch was simply superb.

His trademark spin was in constant use as he ran circles around an aggressive Atletico midfield.

Leon Osman was wowed by Gravenberch against Atletico, while many Liverpool fans online are beginning to consider the Dutch international as one of the best midfielders in the world.

It could also be argued that, based on form so far this season and his showing last year, that Gravenberch is the best in his role in the world.

One fan wrote: “Ryan Gravenberch is the best player in the world in his position.”

The Dutchman really has it all…

Arne Slot also deserves praise for the way he has developed a player stagnating under Jurgen Klopp.

The stats back up the fans’ opinion of the 23-year-old.

His 78 touches were second only to the 106 Dominik Szoboszlai took.

The midfield was fiercely contested, and with 89% of Gravenberch’s passes finding their mark, he was consistent and effective.

He also made two key passes as he continues to defy the traditional way of playing in the No.6 role.

From nine ground duels, Gravenberch won six and won his only aerial duel.

Liverpool need to keep Gravenberch fit because he is arguably the fourth name on the team sheet behind Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson.
