Tottenham fans have been left delighted with the news that Djed Spence has signed a fresh long-term contract with Thomas Frank’s men.
The full-back featured as Spurs defeated Burnley 3-0 on home soil on Saturday, 16 August.
Richarlison’s impressive brace put Frank’s side in the driving seat before Brennan Johnson established a three-goal lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Meanwhile, Spence featured for just one minute of the North Londoners’ Europa League final triumph over Manchester United last term, but played every minute of their UEFA Super Cup defeat to PSG on Wednesday, 13 August.
The former Middlesbrough man joined Tottenham from the North East club in 2022, and endured a slow start to his Spurs career.
Spence made just six appearances for the North London outfit in the 2022/23 season, before joining Ligue 1 club Rennes on loan in January 2023.
The 25-year-old hoped to make a big impact in the Championship for Leeds, when he was loaned to the West Yorkshire club the following August.

However, the defender could not perform for Daniel Farke, and made just seven outings for the Whites, meaning that he subsequently joined Italian club Genoa in another loan move.
Since returning to Spurs from Genoa last summer, though, Spence has had a big impact in North London, making 35 appearances across all competitions last term.
The former Nottingham Forest man showed his attacking ability as well as his defensive nous last term, notching two goals and three assists.
Spence was rewarded for his efforts when Tottenham handed him a fresh long-term contract on Monday, 18 August.

Even though Spurs were beaten by PSG on 13 August, Spence performed well in the UEFA Super Cup.
Meanwhile, after Tottenham announced the defender’s new contract via X on 18 August, one supporter commented: “What an unbelievable turnaround”, while another said: “He deserves it, big up Djed.”
