One player really struggled against Everton tonight as Liverpool lost the Premier League title race.

It was a season which promised so much but which has now ultimately ended in bitter disappointment for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

In April, Liverpool have been obliterated time and time again, and have let things fall from their grasp. Now their season is over. There can be no questions about it.

Liverpool must now look within themselves and assess where things have gone wrong in the last four games that are left until the end of the season.

Especially, those players who have really struggled recently. Including one who is undoubtedly ‘world-class.’

BBC pundit on disappointing Mohamed Salah performance

There is no question about it. Mohamed Salah is world-class. However, he has simply not been at it recently.

The Egyptian has not only not been getting his shots on target from open play, but his overall performance has been quite poor as well.

He hasn’t really contributed with any real threat in the attack. He looks like a passenger in games and doesn’t quite have the sharpness he once had.

When he does get in front of goal, he scuffs his efforts and looks like a shadow of the player we know and love at Liverpool.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live Clinton Morrison agreed with those sentiments, and said Salah hasn’t quite hit the standards he has set over the last few years.

“Mo Salah’s finishing is unreal, but their best finisher is Diogo Jota,” Morrison said.

“Salah’s numbers are unreal and at the minute he is going through a sticky patch which doesn’t mean he is a bad player – he is still a world-class footballer.”

Unfortunately, it’s the sad truth, and Salah’s sticky patch has come at the worst time for Liverpool. A defeat at Goodison Park now practically ends Liverpool’s hopes for the rest of the season.
