Nottingham Forest’s transfer splurge this summer has left one player on the fringes as he has received interest from two clubs in hot pursuit.

Following a stupendous 2024-25 season that saw the Garibaldi claim Europa League football, Nottingham Forest lost 3-0 to West Ham in a horrendous performance, summing up the current atmosphere at the City Ground.

Despite bringing in an array of talent to bolster the squad, sources told Football Insider that Nottingham Forest could sack manager Nuno Espirito Santo with owner Evangelos Marinakis and the Portuguese reportedly at odds with one another.

Football Insider also revealed that Jose Mourinho and Ange Postecoglou are in-line for the Nottingham Forest managerial job, with the pair being just two of the potential replacements for the former Wolves boss.

Yet with deadline day in full swing, the unwanted Portuguese star Jota Silva is receiving interest after being pushed to the fringes of the team.

After signing for the Garibaldi last summer, one-year is looking like all the Portugal international is going to get at the City Ground after being pushed down the pecking order.

According to Matte Moretto on X (1 September), the winger has received offers to leave Forest on the ultimate day of the window.

Having spent much of the previous campaign being used as an impact sub, the former Vitoria man now looks to be even further down the pecking order in Nottingham.

Even if Espirito Santo is to leave during the international break, with the extensive list of wingers the club has brought in, there is no place for the 26-year-old.

The number 20 has featured for just 11 minutes this season and new arrivals of Omari Hutchinson, James McAtee and Dan Ndoye will most likely make that trend continue of limited minutes.

A return to Portugal to play for one of the biggest clubs in the country looks enticing, especially playing back on home soil after getting limited joy from England.

Even though the ex-Wolves boss has historically had a preference to play and back Portuguese players, the influx of new additions means his hands are tied.

Who knows, a last minute move to Sporting-CP or Paris FC could lead to a golden opportunity for Silva to get back into the Portugal squad for the World Cup after making just two appearances in his international career.
