Liverpool were confirmed Premier League champions on Sunday with a resounding 5-1 win at Anfield against Tottenham.

The Reds put on a show on Merseyside as Arne Slot’s side secured one of their biggest results of the season in front of a sold-out crowd in the English spring sunshine, with Liverpool winning the Premier League title for only the second time.

With Slot now backed to make Liverpool changes in the final four games of the season, the Reds can take their foot off the pedal and bask in their triumph in what will be a well-earned victory lap in their remaining league fixtures.

Indeed, Sunday’s result will go down as one of the most memorable in Liverpool’s recent history, yet for assistant coach Sipke Hulshoff, there was one moment from the game that didn’t sit well with the touchline staff.

Speaking to the Leeuwarder Courant, the Dutch coach noted how Dominic Solanke’s opening goal for Tottenham was ‘very unpleasent’ for Liverpool, with the former Anfield striker giving the hosts a surprise lead in the first half.

However, Liverpool responded in perfect fashion with three goals of their own in the opening 45 minutes, with Alexis Mac Allister lauded for his Steven Gerrard-esque strike to put the Reds ahead and to send them on their way to the Premier League title

Yet for Hulshoff, Tottenham’s opener was not expected, though the Liverpool coach noted that the bad feeling only lasted a few seconds before the Anfield crowd got behind the Reds to inspire them to make a quick comeback and to secure the championship.

Hulshoff said about Solanke’s goal: “A very unpleasant moment, although it only lasted ten seconds.

After we scored the equaliser quite quickly, I had the feeling that it couldn’t go wrong anymore.”

Arne Slot noted that he thought Liverpool would win the title when the team bus pulled up outside of Anfield, and the Dutch coach’s feeling resonates with plenty of supporters on that mythical Sunday against Tottenham.

Even with Spurs taking an early lead, Liverpool never felt like they were in any real danger of losing to Tottenham, a result that would have only just postponed the Premier League title party by another week or so, given how commanding a lead the Reds have on second-place Arsenal.

Whilst Hulshoff was right to have a sinking feeling over Solanke’s goal, Liverpool were never in any real threat of losing against Spurs, with the response from the Reds more than perfect.
