John Achterberg is set to join Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool exodus this summer.

Achterberg has been Anfield’s long-serving goalkeeper coach but will depart when his contract expires at the end of this season, after 15 years’ service.

The Dutchman, who joined the Reds after retiring as a player in 2009, is the fourth member of Klopp’s first-team backroom staff to follow in his footsteps.

Compatriot Pep Lijnders, Peter Krawietz and Vitor Matos all took the decision to join the German in walking away from their roles at the club next month.

Arne Slot, Klopp’s incoming successor as head coach, will be tasked with finding a replacement for Achterberg alongside the other vacated positions.

Several of Slot’s lietenants are heavily tipped to fill the imminent voids including assistant Sipke Hulsoff and head of performance Ruben Peeters.
