Victor Lindelof is hopeful Mason Greenwood can continue to improve after ending his 10-game goal drought in Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Liverpool on Sunday.

The 19-year-old has found goals and regular starts hard to come by in recent months, but got back on the scoresheet at Old Trafford as United secured a 3-2 win over their bitter rivals to book their place in the fifth round of the competiton.

A mesmeric lofted pass from Marcus Rashford set Greenwood up to rifle past Alisson with his right foot and get his side back on level terms at 1-1.

Speaking to MUTV after the game, Lindelof urged the highly-rated academy product to kick on after finally returning to goalscoring form.

‘I was very happy for him, he’s a brilliant young player and for him to get a goal and an assist is great for him, hopefully he can keep building and improving,’ he said.

United were pegged back twice in a thrilling clash against Jurgen Klopp’s side, with Bruno Fernandes’ stunning free-kick sealing the win.

Comebacks have been a common theme for the Red Devils this season, and Lindelof admitted the side never let their heads drop when in a losing position.

‘We’ve done it a couple of times and we did it again today, we know we can do it, we have belief and even if we concede a goal we’re very calm and try to be patient with the ball because we know we’ll get chances,’ the Swedish defender added.

‘That’s what happened today, we conceded but we kept on going.’
