Osimhen, who missed Galatasaray’s last two Süper Lig matches with persistent aches after brief training appearances, has undergone careful monitoring by the medical team since aggravating a thigh strain in Nigeria’s recent international window.
Although he has participated in light drills and made a 10-minute cameo in midweek sessions, his ability to withstand the rigours of back-to-back high-intensity games remains uncertain as the Napoli loanee battles discomfort.
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk said earlier this week that he hopes his star man is able to play on Friday vs Alanyaspor and also against Liverpool next week:
“Victor Osimhen underwent examinations today [22nd September],” Buruk began as quoted by Turkish outlet Haberler
“He participated in yesterday’s training.
We hope that if he can tolerate these and play, he will be with the team in the next match.
We also expect him to be on the field for the Liverpool match.” he said.
Meanwhile in other news, the home stadium of Galatasaray, Rams Park, has drawn sharp criticism from visiting teams and UEFA inspectors alike.
Turkish media have reported that a malfunction in the irrigation system led to seawater seeping into the turf, creating uneven grass coverage and a patchy appearance that threatens players’ footing and ball movement.
Further scrutiny revealed that heavy maintenance works, ranging from re-leveling the soil to overseeding, were followed by an unexpected heatwave, compounding grass loss across key areas of the field.
Galatasaray released a statement insisting that top agronomy specialists oversee ongoing repairs and that UEFA’s independent inspectors have regularly signed off on remediation measures
Yet, concerns persist over whether the current condition of Rams Park can meet the demands of a high-octane Champions League encounter, especially under floodlights and expected late-autumn rain.
