As the final weeks of the season get underway all across Europe, Liverpool are starting to put their transfer plans into the next phase.

The Reds look likely to do some big business this summer as they aim to build on their Premier League winning campaign.

With just a few weeks left in which to gather up to the minute data on players, these could be crucial days in shaping Liverpool’s summer strategy.

Whatever happens, though, Liverpool are virtually certain to bring in a new centre-forward ahead of next season.

Alexander Isak is the dream for Liverpool, but with the Swede more likely to stay at Newcastle, the Reds may have to pivot.

One of those being mentioned as an alternative to Isak is RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

And as the transfer noise grows ever louder around him, Sesko bulleted in a brilliant finish on Saturday afternoon.

According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool scouts were in Germany this weekend in order to watch Sesko in action against Bayern Munich.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Xavi Simons, too, and The Mail report that the Reds had a presence in Leipzig on Saturday to run the rule over both players.

And it’s likely the Liverpool talent spotters will have liked what they saw.

With just 11 minutes on the clock, Simons and Sesko linked up to give Leipzig the lead.

Breaking out following a poor touch from Michael Olise, Simons sent the ball into the channel for Sesko to chase.

Almost immediately, the Slovenian found himself one-vs-one with Bayern goalkeeper Jonas Urbig.

Around 40 yards from goal, though, Sesko still had plenty to do.

Most players would have taken a touch and headed towards Urbig, but not Sesko.

Goal.

This scouting trip certainly ended up being worth it for LiverpoolA

They saw the unpredictable brilliance of Sesko in a microcosm.

Moments like these are why the former RB Salzburg striker could be worth Liverpool paying his £66m release clause this summer.

There is plenty of magic in Sesko’s boots and at such a young age he is surely only going to get better.

Having said that, it doesn’t feel too much of a stretch to suggest that a certain Darwin Nunez would also have attempted a similar finish when in Sesko’s position here.

There are similarities between Nunez in 2022 and Sesko in 2025 which should make Liverpool think twice before diving in.
