Video: Footage emerges that shows Luis Diaz's goal against Arsenal was straight from the training ground

Much of the focus after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Sunday has been what happened away from the match action.

After Trent Alexander-Arnold was mercilessly booed by his own team’s supporters, every man and his dog have been having their say.

As a result, what actually happened during the game itself has been a little overlooked.

There was plenty of good stuff from Liverpool, though, and while they obviously eased off in the second-half, the opening 45 minutes were as good as anything the Reds have produced in ages.

Perhaps the best moment of the half came in the 21st minute when, having just opened the scoring, Luis Diaz slotted in Liverpool’s second goal.

It was an easy finish for Diaz, who slid in to put the ball into an open goal.

And, as it turns out, the two players had done exactly the same thing just days before at the Liverpool training ground.

Since Liverpool secured the Premier League title in April, the players have been seen jetting off all over the world.

Arne Slot has allowed his squad to let their hair down.

Consequently, it does not seem as though the Liverpool players have done all that much training in the past two weeks.

Nevertheless, they were out on the pitches in Kirkby on Friday, with footage from the Liverpool FC X account showing some link-up play between Salah and Szoboszlai.

In the clip, Salah picks up the ball from deep before spraying a brilliant vertical pass through the defence to Szoboszlai, who runs through one-vs-one with Alisson Becker.

Just as happened in Sunday’s game, Diaz could be spotted in the six-yard box, waiting for a tap-in.

On this occasion, Szoboszlai chooses to go alone, taking a touch to slide it past Alisson before finishing at the near post.

If Szoboszlai’s training ground finish was the second and Diaz’s goal against Arsenal was the third, then the first came two weeks ago on Liverpool’s crowning day.

Again, Diaz was the man who scored it.

This time it was against Tottenham.

Once more, Salah picked the ball up in a deep position on the right wing.

Again he searched for the run between the lines from Szoboszlai, who picked out Diaz in the six-yard box.

This has worked delightfully well for Liverpool and, when executed like this, it is really difficult to stop.

Salah’s pass is the key ingredient, but Szoboszlai’s run from deep and Diaz’s predatory instincts have all played a part to unlock an archetypal goal for the Reds.
