Liverpool’s transfer window is already getting exciting and the season has yet to even finish.

The Reds are expected to be one of the busiest sides this summer having failed to do much at all over the past 18 months.

One piece of business they did manage in 2024 was to sign goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.

Having committed his future to Liverpool in August, Mamardashvili has been playing out the 2024/25 season on-loan with the Spanish club.

Although it has been a mixed season for Mamardashvili and Valencia, he has still shown moments of real quality and should be a good addition at Anfield.

On Sunday, the Georgian finally played his last home game for Valencia.

And having kept goal so valiantly at the club since 2021, Mamardashvili was given a heroes goodbye from Mestalla.

It has been a long wait for Mamardashvili to join Liverpool.

And given how good Alisson Becker has been this season there remains plenty of intrigue over what his role at Anfield will look like.

In the meantime, though, it is still all about Valencia for the 24-year-old.

He has 133 played games for Los Che over four years and has been a key player during that period.

That could be seen in the goodbye he received after losing 1-0 against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

As per the official Valencia X account, Mamardashvili was spotted raising his arms and applauding the stadium as fans gave him an ovation on the pitch.

“Mamardashvili, one of us forever,” reads the captain, with the goalkeeper also warmly received by his teammates in the video.

With Mamardashvili labelled as an ‘outstanding’ goalkeeper by former England shot-stopper Paul Robinson, it’s next stop: Merseyside.

Following his lap of appreciation on the pitch at Mestalla, Mamardashvili was also interviewed pitch side ahead of his move to Liverpool.

“A very emotional night for me,” said the 24-year-old.

Although this was his final home game for Valencia, Mamardashvili will play one more time, when his team take on Real Betis this Friday night.
