Ozan Kabak may actually have been one of the few players to come out of last night’s defeat with some praise.

Liverpool were beaten 3-1 away at Real Madrid on Tuesday night, with Vinicius Junior bagging a brace in what was a torrid night for the Reds.

They just couldn’t get going, and were all at sea defensively for much of the game, though Kabak did stand up tall.

The Schalke loanee was praised by many Liverpool fans on Twitter for his performance, picking him out as the only positive from a dismal game.

It wasn’t all great from Kabak though, as he almost gifted Marco Asensio a goal shortly after the Reds had gone 2-0 down.

Chasing a ball down Liverpool’s left channel, Kabak attempted to knock the ball back to Alisson, but completely scuffed his pass, meaning Asensio had a chance – but he fired wide.

BT Sport’s coverage of the game captured an angle where a clearly-stressed Jurgen Klopp’s reaction on the sideline was visible, and he put his hands to his head as he thought Kabak had gifted Real a goal.

Klopp had just seen Trent Alexander-Arnold head the ball straight to Asensio for Real’s second, and the horror was clear as he thought it was happening again with Kabak.

The Turkish defender did at least come back strong and turn in a decent performance, showing the resolve to bounce back from that error – and Klopp won’t want to see many more of those mistakes, especially with a decision to make over Kabak’s long-term future on the horizon.
