Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly setting his sights on a move to Arsenal or Juventus this summer - but he would favour Liverpool over long-time admirers Manchester United.

The Reds may look for frontline reinforcements should Darwin Nunez head to Saudi Arabia, as has been hinted by Al-Hilal's chief executive.

Gyokeres has established himself as one of Europe's top strikers, netting an impressive 97 goals in just 102 matches for Portuguese side Sporting CP.



When head coach Ruben Amorim left Sporting to take the helm at Old Trafford last November, there was speculation that the Swede might follow, given United's dismal attack.

But, despite the 15th-placed top-flight finishers' vigorous pursuit of the 27-year-old this summer, reports earlier this month suggested that Gyokeres had rejected the idea of a reunion in Manchester.

Now, according to Portuguese publication A Bola, Gyokeres has grown frustrated with the lack of transfer activity but has identified the clubs he would like to join during this window.

These include Mikel Arteta's Gunners and Juventus, but he would also accept an offer from the Reds should they come knocking in light of Nunez's potential exit.

The report states that five clubs have shown interest in signing Gyokeres, with the Swedish striker currently enjoying a well-deserved holiday, reports the Mirror.

In England, both United and Arsenal have long been known to admire the prolific goalscorer, while Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli are among other potential suitors.

However, it appears that Gyokeres has set his sights on a move to either the Emirates or Turin, and adding insult to United's injury, he would reportedly also entertain offers from rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.

While the £70million-rated Gyokeres has seemingly made it abundantly clear that a move to north London would be his preferred Premier League transfer, Arsenal are also reportedly eyeing another striker: RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.

The 27-year-old may then shift his focus to his other preferred choice, Juventus, who, according to Corriere dello Sport, have offered him a lucrative £11m per year to make the switch to Serie A.

Yet, if Arne Slot's side do lose a player like Nunez, the burden on the likes of Diogo Jota through the middle could become too much, with Cody Gakpo being utilised well on the left side of the attack.

This may lead to a central attacker being recruited, and Gyokeres fits that profile.

Esteve Calzada of Al-Hilal admitted to the BBC that his side are "targeting the biggest players" this summer, and Nunez has emerged as a potential target.

"We are targeting the biggest players.

"The only thing we've been trying to remind players and agents is that yes, we are from Saudi, but we don't print notes here!"

It is reported that Liverpool would look to fetch around £50m for Nunez should he depart, and Al-Hilal could well be his destination, after the Saudi Pro League outfit failed in their attempts to lure Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to the Middle East for £63m.

Should Nunez leave, Slot's side may aim to reinvest any funds in a top marksman, and Gyokeres has supposedly already made it clear that if the Reds do call, he would likely answer.
