Benjamin Sesko’s surprise decision to take Manchester United’s tenth penalty against Grimsby has now been revealed.
Man United signed Sesko from RB Leipzig for £74million and he made his full debut for the club in their League Cup defeat at Grimsby.
After a 2-2 draw, the game was decided by a penalty shootout, and Sesko has been questioned for being Man United’s tenth penalty taker.
Bryan Mbeumo missed the decisive spot kick as Grimsby won the shootout 12-11 to add pressure onto Ruben Amorim following Man United’s winless start to the season.

Sesko was expected to be one of Man United‘s first penalty taker in the shootout, but the Slovenian was behind the likes of defenders Diogo Dalot and Harry Maguire in the pecking order.
BBC Sport [28 August], has revealed that Sesko was suffering from cramp after playing his first full 90 minutes since mid April.
The heavy rainfall had also not helped Sesko complete the match, and therefore Man United were hopeful that the shootout would have been completed before it got to the 22-year-old.

Sesko managed to successfully convert his spot kick, but it counted for little before Mbuemo hit the crossbar with his effort.
