Liverpool players have rushed to support Harvey Elliott after his goal during their 3-2 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 22-year-old, however, dropped an apparent hint regarding his future after his limited gametime, this season.

Elliott netted his first goal of the season in a rare start under head coach Arne Slot.



Monday's trip to the AMEX Stadium was his 17th appearance of the season but only his second start of the season.

During the winter transfer window, there were reports that Borussia Dortmund and Brighton were among the club's interested in the England under-21 international.

In more recent reports, it was suggested that the Bundesliga club could reignite their interest in the playmaker.

Elliott posted to his social media in light of his first effort of the season, with the Reds' attention now turning to the final game of the season against Crystal Palace, where they will get their hands on the Premier League title.

The midfielder shared his celebration, where he made the heart gesture with his hands, on Instagram.

Ryan Gravenberch was among the Liverpool players to comment on the post, simply replying with a red heart.

Meanwhile, a host of the Reds title-winning side offered support by liking the post including Virgil van Dijk, Diogo Jota, Ibrahima Konate, Curits Jones, Alexis Mac Allister and Luis Diaz.

Elliott is back in the spotlight after his comments to Sky Sports following the defeat on Monday, as he insited that his long-term future may lie away from Anfield

"It's been hard with how much I've played," the 22-year-old said.

"I've tried as hard as I could and whatever happens, happens.

"It's football at the end of the day, in my opinion I've got to do what's best for my career.

"It's a tough one.

I think every player wants to play each and every game, each and every minute but sometimes it's not going to happen.

"It's about reflecting and seeing what I can do better in my position and going from there.

"I'm here at the moment, still got one game left and I'm fully focused on that."
