However, the 33-year-old emphatically shut down the question surrounding whether he can maintain his performance levels at the peak of his powers.

"Very good question," he responded to being asked how many years he has left at the 'very top level', during an interview with fashion and lifestyle magazine GQ.

"What I can promise is that I'm committed to making sure that there will be plenty more years at the highest level yet.

"I feel good and we have to keep going.

So let's see."

Van Dijk has been key to securing the title and becoming the first Dutchman to lift the Premier League as captain, as well as ensuring that Arne Slot is the first coach from the region to win the English domestic league.

He popped up with some key contributions, including the towering header against West Ham United to atone for his error after a mix-up with Andy Robertson - which saw the Scot convert into his own goal and offer the Hammers an avenue back into the game.

The 32-year-old revealed how Sunday's triumph over Spurs was an emotional afternoon.

He said: "First and foremost, it's been an amazing Premier League season for us.

"We've been consistent [we are] well-deserved winners and the reaction we showed after going 1-0 down today was outstanding.

Everyone who is connected to Liverpool can celebrate and enjoy because that is what you should do as well.

"Obviously I think, in my opinion, it is the hardest league in the world to win so when it is a glorious day in terms of the atmosphere, the weather and a good opponent.

"It was incredible to be a part of and I think the manager touched on it already on the pitch that we have now two titles in five years, so that is a big achievement in my opinion."
