Virgil van Dijk has expressed his dismay at Sevilla's Joris Gnagnon for the red-card tackle on Liverpool youngster Yasser Larouci.

And Van Dijk, who confronted Gnagnon on the touchline after the final whistle, said: "I saw it from the side and it's not nice.

Larouci was hacked down by a brutal foul from Gnagnon that saw the defender dismissed 14 minutes from the end of the Reds' 2-1 defeat in Boston on Sunday night.

And of the tempestuous approach from the Spaniards, Van Dijk added: "You have to just deal with it but obviously you don’t want to have injuries in pre-season, you want to get fit, get back to your best and want to play to win but the most important thing is to get fit.

"Hopefully for Yasser it is not that bad."

"I think it says something about him (Gnagnon)."

Sevilla picked up a number of bookings with Ever Banega fortunate not to have also been sent off after elbowing Harry Wilson in the face.
