Liverpool players have supported skipper Virgil van Dijk on social media after a 28th-place finish in the Ballon d'Or rankings.
Of the 30 nominees, only Florian Wirtz (29th) and Michael Olise (30th) finished below the defender.
Van Dijk had previously secured nominations in 2019 and 2022, the centre-back coming agonisingly close to Lionel Messi in the first instance, trailing in second place by just seven points, before managing 16th spot three years on with a single point.
He led all defensive players on both occasions.
