Vitor Pereira’s current contract runs until the end of the 2025/26 campaign and requires addressing by the Wolves board.
The 57-year-old was appointed shortly after Gary O’Neil‘s sacking in December 2024, leading the Old Gold away from the relegation zone, eventually finishing 16th in the Premier League table.
Boasting a 48 per cent win record during his short time at Molineux Stadium, Football Insider revealed in April that Wolves were set for showdown talks with Pereira, having only handed him a short-term deal.
With Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Nelson Semedo all departing, the manager had raised concerns over the lack of transfer activity, but the board have since backed him in the market.
Deals for Fer Lopez, Jorgen Strand Larsen, Jhon Arias, and David Moller Wolfe have got supporters excited for the 2025/26 campaign, though the club do kick off their season against Man City on Saturday, 16 August.
According to the Daily Mail (7 August), Pereira’s contract situation is expected to be resolved once the summer transfer window closes on 1 September, but neither party feels the need to be hasty.

Wolves are relaxed about the situation, with zero sense that the Portuguese figure has his eye on any other job this summer, and his frustration over a lack of transfer activity being addressed.
The club handed out new four-year deals to O’Neil and his staff on the eve of last season, only for the Old Gold to go without a win in the Premier League until 9 November, with the manager being sacked in mid-December.

Football Insider verdict
While the Old Gold have made several key signings, especially sealing Strand Larsen’s signature on a permanent contract, the high-profile exits are likely to have a major impact next season.
Cunha was the only player to notch more goal contributions than the striker last term, with Ait-Nouri the next best after him, and Wolves are without both of them heading into 2025/26.
Mick Brown told Football Insider that Pereira could choose to quit Wolves in favour of a return to Portugal, but it appears that those back at Molineux are confident of him staying this summer.

The supporters have been through highs and lows with managers over the seasons, especially after Julen Lopetegui left just days before the start of a season, but that does not seem to be the case here.
More additions to the squad would certainly be well received, not only by the fans but also by the manager, who has a contract remaining until June 2026.
If Wolves want to avoid further questions over his future, and whether he is willing to stay on at Molineux Stadium for the foreseeable future, an official announcement of a new deal needs to come.
