Liverpool are waiting patiently to pounce for Alexander Isak if he becomes available.
The feeling around Isak this summer is that if Newcastle show any willingness to sell, then the Reds will be the first in the queue, and that still remains the case.
The Swede wants to depart this summer and Liverpool desperately want him to join, even despite signing Hugo Ekitike in a deal worth up to £79m.
However, despite the player himself making his feelings clear, there is still a lot to be decided and this deal could take a little while to get over the line.
For Liverpool, all they can really do is sit back and wait, although they might be able to make the transfer happen sooner rather than later after Newcastle’s latest demand.

The Isak to Liverpool deal is not just a complicated one financially, but it is tricky as Newcastle have a few conditions first before allowing him to go.
The main one is that they want to sign a replacement before even coming to the table with Richard Hughes, and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is the man they want to bring in.
They had their first bid turned down by the German side, although they are still keen to make a deal happen, they just need the Slovenian to decide if he wants to join first.

And now, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle have given Sesko 48 hours to make his decision, with the Magpies wanting this wrapped up quickly rather than a drawn-out saga.

With that being said, Liverpool may know in the coming days whether Isak will genuinely be available, or at least whether they could get a deal done this week.
If so, the Reds will likely act swiftly as they already have parts of the deal, like personal terms, agreed and in place.
They also know that Newcastle’s asking price is around £150m, indicating that their second bid would be much improved and a deal could be struck before the new season starts.
Liverpool and Man United have been fierce rivals both on and off the pitch for a very long time, and this summer the Red Devils could get one over on the Reds.
They too also want Sesko and are competing for his signature with Newcastle, although they will only make an offer once he has made his decision.
That means that the next two days will be crucial and potentially painful for the Reds if Man United do end up getting him, as that means there is a delay, or perhaps a complete stoppage, to their Isak transfer.
The power is now in the Slovenian’s hands, Reds fans will just be praying that he makes the right decision.
