Merseyside Police will tonight hold a press conference following the harrowing vehicle incident during Liverpool's Premier League trophy parade.

A day of celebration in the city was ruined when, at around 6pm, a car careered into fans, leaving many needing hospital treatment.

Police have since confirmed a 53-year-old white British man has been detained.



Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision."
