Watching academy games just got a whole lot easier for Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool’s move to the club’s new training base in Kirkby.

The AXA Training Centre, which was officially opened on Tuesday morning, means the academy and the first team are now using the same training facilities after Klopp’s squad left Melwood earlier this month.

And so it was that on Saturday afternoon Klopp wandered across from his office to take a closer look at the under-23s.

In the past, Klopp has relied heavily on his youth coaches and more recently elite development coach Vitor Matos to provide him with feedback on the younger players, now it is easier for Klopp to see for himself.

So, as well as playing host to Southampton, Barry Lewtas’s side also played host to some VIP spectators.
