Man City fans are not happy after a new development emerged around Omar Marmoush ahead of their derby clash against Man United this weekend.
Man City‘s start to the new season has been less-than ideal after successive losses in their last two games heading into the international break.
Their 4-0 thrashing of Wolves was followed up by a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham and a 2-1 loss to Brighton last time out, and Pep Guardiola‘s woes have been compounded by a number of injury issues to his key men.
Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol are both set to miss their huge clash with Man United on Sunday (14 September), while the likes of Savinho, Abdukodir Khusanov, Rico Lewis, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Nico O’Reilly, Phil Foden and John Stones, who was injured on England duty, are all doubts.
Guardiola would have desperately hoped that the rest of his already thin squad were able to get through their international duties unscathed, but that has not been the case, and Man City fans have reacted accordingly.

Omar Marmoush hobbled off with an injury early on in Egypt’s game against Burkina Faso on Tuesday (9 September), and City provided an update on his condition online on Wednesday, saying: “Initial results on a scan performed in Egypt indicate he will not be available for the Manchester derby on Sunday…he will now return to Manchester for more assessment and to begin his rehabilitation.”
It is unclear how long he will be out for past this weekend, but the pure fact that he will not be available to face United has worried and angered City’s fans, with one taking to X to say: “We are cursed since last season,” while another said: “We are so finished sadly.”

Another supporter took to the site to express their concern, saying: “Write the season off,” while one bemoaned the club’s transfer business and complained: “Horrible news and this is why we should not have sold Julian Alvarez and Echeverri.”
The injuries are stacking up for City, with one fan saying: “gonna be plucking a fan out the stands to company haaland at this rate,” as another supporter said: “our only threat is haaland, cheers.”
Marmoush has started two of the Citizens’ first three league games, grabbing an assist against Brighton, and he has been a key player for the club since his January move from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Marmoush netted eight goals in 22 appearances for City last season as he revitalised their attacking options following his January arrival.
He is yet to score this term, but Marmoush did shine against Brighton and have a helping hand in Erling Haaland‘s goal, and Guardiola will be among many that hope he is able to return to full fitness soon.

They face United this weekend in need of three points to kickstart their title challenge, let alone to secure bragging rights in the derby, while Serie A champions Napoli travel to the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League on 18 September.
Both of those games will be tough, but their hardest upcoming test comes three days later as they face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Not having Marmoush available for the United game is one thing, but him potentially being out for both Napoli and Arsenal could be genuinely catastrophic for City’s chances of success in both the Champions League and Premier League this season.
