There is excitement amongst Liverpool fans at how their forward line could look next season.

The Reds are set for plenty of change in the attacking positions, with incomings and outgoings still planned for the remainder of the summer.

Luis Diaz has been part of that churn, as he departed for Bayern Munich on Wednesday after three-and-a-half successful years with Liverpool.

Diaz won a Premier League, FA Cup and two League Cups with the Reds, becoming a popular member of the Liverpool squad during that time.

The Colombian was loved by his teammates, many of whom have posted their own farewells to Diaz in recent days.

Mohamed Salah is sometimes late to the party when it comes to posting online, but when the Egyptian speaks, it is often well worth the wait.

And Salah has once again delivered with a surprisingly lengthy goodbye post for Diaz.

As the years have passed, Salah has become a true figurehead for Liverpool.

One of the game’s global stars, his words carry an added weight.

The 32-year-old is also a superb teammate, something he underlined once again by going out of his way to deliver a touching farewell for Diaz.

“Your energy, drive, and passion on the pitch have left a mark that won’t be forgotten,” Salah posted on Instagram on Friday morning.

“We were truly lucky to have you at Liverpool, and it’s been an honour to share part of your journey and success story.”

“As a teammate, you were more than reliable — you were inspiring.

Wishing you all the best for what’s next, Lucho.”

Salah then added a phrase in Spanish: “Siga haciendo orgullosa a su gente,” meaning “Keep making your people proud.”

As well as highlighting exactly why Salah should be named Liverpool’s vice captain in the coming weeks, his post also underlined the legacy Diaz leaves at Anfield.

The Colombian was never the biggest star during his years with Liverpool, but he certainly gave plenty to the club.

For someone as influential as Salah to speak so highly of Diaz only goes to show how well his teammates thought of him.

The 28-year-old has left with nothing but good wishes from everyone connected with the club.

In a transfer of this size, that is rare and speaks to the calibre of person Liverpool have let go.
