Liverpool players showed their appreciation for Mohamed Salah after the forward was recognised for his outstanding displays during a remarkable individual campaign last season.

Salah was at the heart of Liverpool’s success under Arne Slot in 2024/25, playing a decisive role in their Premier League title win.

His impact in the final third was nothing short of extraordinary, scoring 34 goals and registering 23 assists across all competitions.

That form not only secured him the Golden Boot but also helped the Reds lift their second league title during his time at Anfield.

Salah’s long-term future had been uncertain and a major talking point for much of last season, with uncertainty surrounding whether he would extend his stay as his contract ticked down into its final months.

However, the club acted decisively, as Salah and captain Virgil van Dijk both signed new deals to secure the futures of two of their biggest leaders.

Now, with the new campaign underway, Salah’s influence and brilliance have been formally recognised with a prestigious award in another reminder of his impact.

On 19 August, the Professional Footballers’ Association awards were held, with Salah crowned the Men’s Player of the Year.

The Liverpool forward took to Instagram to share his gratitude, writing: “This very special award hits different when we have an important trophy to go along with it.

“Being champions is what matters and we will fight to do it again this season.

I am incredibly grateful to the players who voted for me.”

His message drew plenty of responses from teammates, with captain Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch both reacting with heart and applause emojis, while Ibrahima Konate showed his support by liking the post.

Elsewhere across the Premier League, several big names also acknowledged Salah’s achievement, with Jack Grealish, Nathan Ake and former teammate Luis Diaz among those to interact with the announcement.

Salah’s decisive role in Liverpool’s title-winning season saw him voted ahead of his rivals and while the 33-year-old has made history as the first player to win the accolade three times, Matt Le Tissier has predicted Alexander Isak to win the player of the year if a move transpires this summer.

While Konate was quick to show his appreciation for Salah’s award, his own future at Anfield remains uncertain.

Football Insider revealed Konate could leave Liverpool as early as January, particularly if the club are successful in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.

Konate has less than a year remaining on his current deal, and with Real Madrid continuing to monitor his situation closely, Liverpool are under pressure to resolve his contract talks soon to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer.
