According to the latest report from The Athletic, one Liverpool star is attracting serious interest from West Brom and several Championship sides.

A lot of focus has been on Liverpool’s summer transfer business, which has seen the club wrap up two new signings in Jeremie Frimpong and Armin Pecsi.

The Reds were always expected to be busy in the market after winning the Premier League title in Arne Slot’s first season.

The Dutch manager did not spend much in his first season in charge, but he publicly admitted that he and the club would strengthen in the transfer window.

True to his word, the Reds have been busy in the market so far, and their business appears to be only getting started.

Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz are two players that could join the club in the coming days, while there is also a belief that a striker will also sign.

So far, Hugo Ekitike appears to be the major name making the rounds as a possible addition.

However, while the focus so far appears to be on the fresh incomings, there certainly will be a lot of outgoings in the coming days.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure is the only one confirmed so far, but many more players are set to join him in the exit door.

One player who is almost guaranteed to leave this season is Nat Phillips.

The defender has made 19 appearances for Liverpool but hasn’t played since November 2022

A Liverpool defender with just two Premier League appearances in the last four seasons is expected to leave Anfield permanently this summer as a series of Championship sides fight it out for his signature.

The Bolton-born defender joined Liverpool in 2016 when he was 19 years old, but had to wait another three years before making his professional debut after completing a loan move to VfB Stuttgart.

Since making his debut it has been up and down for Phillips in the Liverpool first team.

Despite playing a big part in Liverpool’s Champions League qualification in 2021, he has played the bulk of his senior career away from Anfield.

Loan spells at Bournemouth, Celtic, Cardiff City and Derby County have followed, making most of his appearances at Championship level.

He crucially played 33 matches as Derby avoided relegation last season and scored once in the season’s penultimate game in a crunch 1-0 win over Hull City.

He is now expected to leave Liverpool this summer, with The Athletic reporting that promotion hopefuls West Bromwich Albion are emerging as the early favourites to sign him?

They also claim a number of Championship sides are looking at the defender.

The Baggies were relegated from the Premier League in 2021 and have missed out on the play-offs in three of the last four seasons.

They recently parted ways with manager Tony Mowbray, whose return was unsuccessful, to take a gamble on a first-time manager in Ryan Mason.
